Marina Chamma
About Marina Chamma has been IFI’s Communications Manager since August 2022. She is a political economist, development professional and writer. Having started her university studies at Sophia University in Tokyo, she graduated from the American University of Beirut with a B.A. in Political Science and obtained a M.Sc. in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining IFI, Marina worked as a Senior Investment Officer Consultant at Alfanar Venture Philanthropy in Beirut, a Senior Economist at the UNDP’s Technical Advisory Unit at the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon, as well as being the Economic Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. In the earlier years of her career, she also worked at Lebanon's Permanent Mission to the UN in Vienna and the Mainichi Daily News in Tokyo. As a writer, Marina recently published her first book “And So We Drive On: Short Stories” (Beirut, 2020) and contributed to the collective work "Liban: Messages pour un pays" (Editions Noir Blanc Etc., 2019). Her non-fiction writing has appeared in, among others: An Nahar, LSE Middle East Center Blog, Your Middle East, The Descrier, Lacuna Magazine, NOW Lebanon, The Japan Times, the Mainichi Daily News, BooksbyWomen.org and Eye on the East.
